During the holidays I get so excited about blood oranges being in season. I love when I cut open the oranges they are the most gorgeous ruby red color. I love to make one of my favorite cocktails – French 75’s – with blood orange juice. The juice makes the drink so pretty!

Equipment
- 1 cocktail shaker
Ingredients
- 1.5 ounces gin
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 1/2 ounce fresh blood orange juice
- chilled champagne
- 1/2 blood orange slice for garnish
Instructions
- Chill a champagne flute in the freezer for 30 minutes.
- In a cocktail shaker half filled with ice, place gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and blood orange juice.
- Cover shaker and shake vigorously.
- Strain into the chilled champagne flute.
- Top with chilled champagne.
- Garnish with 1/2 blood orange slice.
