Ingredients
- 6 ounces dark rum
- 3 cups hot water
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 vanilla bean pod, scraped out, pod reserved for another use
- 1 1/2 tablespoons tightly packed dark brown sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch ground mace
- pinch ground nutmeg
Instructions
- For the cocktail: Stir together rum and water. Place 1 tablespoon vanilla bean butter in each of 4 warmed mugs. Pour rum into mugs. Stir and serve.
- For the vanilla bean butter: In a bowl, mix together the butter, vanilla bean paste, dark brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, mace and nutmeg.
